North Woods Nativity

North Woods Nativity
Celebrate the wonder of Christmas by hand-crafting a traditional nativity ... with a twist! All you need are some chunks of basswood and some basic carving tools, along with our step-by-step carving, painting and finishing instructions. Our North Woods Nativity naturally features Baby Jesus, who rests in a hollowed out tree trunk lined with pine boughs, Mary and Joseph, and the three wise men, who have traveled far ... on snowshoes and skis. Three pine trees in varied sizes gently bow and sway in a make-believe breeze. A raccoon, a beaver, a mountain goat, a big horn sheep, a moose, a goose and a grizzly bear gather to complete the woodland scene.

Christmas bonfires - Every year over one hundred 30 foot plus tall bonfire structures are built of wood, firecrackers, and occasionally bamboo along the Mississippi River levee near the town of Lutcher, Louisiana. These bonfires are laced with kerosene or lighter fluid, then all are ignited simultaneously at 7 PM US Central Standard Time to welcome the arrival of Papa Noel on Christmas Eve.

Christmas Eve - Christmas Eve, December 24, the day before Christmas Day, is treated to a greater or a lesser extent in most Christian societies as part of the Christmas festivities. Christmas Eve is the traditional day to set up the Christmas tree, but as the Christmas season has been extended several weeks back (to Thanksgiving in the United States), many trees will have been set up for weeks.

Twelve Days of Christmas - The Twelve Days of Christmas and the associated evenings of those twelve days (Twelve-tide), are the festive days from the evening after Christmas day (December 25) through Epiphany on (January 6). December 26 (Boxing Day) is the first day of Christmas, the December 27 is the second day of Christmas, and so on until January 6 which is the 12th day of Christmas.
